Last of playing catch up! After this post I will be all done with the 80's section! After this post I will be posting once a week, giving my reviews and opinions of the next 80 movies! Wow...
84. Easy Rider (1969)- Ugh... I realize my brain is slowly blocking out this movie. Better write my review fast! Apart from a young, drunk Jack Nicholson... this movie BLOWS! I know it was supposed to be some major break through and a really big deal, but I didn't get it. The story was lame, it was slow and weird! Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper wrote and starred in this melancholy film where *SPOILER ALERT* they all die in the end... and get this... because they were bikers! A nasty red-neck with a weird growth on his neck shoots them both while driving down the highway... Unrealistic shot and unrealistic to think I would ever watch this movie again. TWO THUMBS DOWN!
83. Titanic (1997)- Who doesn't love a young Leonardo DiCaprio? I sure did when this movie first came out! And Kate Winslet isn't too bad herself. If you were alive when this movie came out... chances are you have seen it! If not you should... besides the eye candy of Leo's character Jack Dawson, the movie has a lot of Titanic history! Watch it! Two Thumbs Up!
82. Sunrise (1927)- This is the first silent movie on the list! Funny story... my husband and I thought it was going to be 2 hours and 53 minutes because that is what Netflix says it's going to be! We were wondering how we were going to handle an almost three hour silent film! However, it turned out to only be about a hour and a half... and it was pretty good! I didn't know if I would like silent movie, but it was really fun to watch and talk with silly voices! The story of a man that was having an affair, decided to kill his wife to be with his mistress, changes his mind, falls back in love with his wife, and then almost loses her to storm on the sea... was a little odd. However, it was surprisingly entertaining and I am glad we saw it! A Thumbs Up!
81. Spartacus (1960)- " I AM SPARTACUS"... no not really but this movie was pretty good. Similar to Ben Hur... Spartacus is a slave in old Roman times. However, Jesus doesn't come for Spartacus. The movie is kind of sad and a little dark... but you love Kirk Douglas as Spartacus through out the whole movie, butt chin and all. Definitely not for children, but if you are in the mood for a serious, epic, butt kicking film, this would be a good movie for you! Again, another one I would have never seen without the list... and am glad I saw it! Thumbs Up!
80. The Apartment (1960)- Oh, I was excited to see this movie! Love Jack Lemmon! Love Shirley MacLaine! However, I was expecting this movie to be just another silly old fun movie. It was good... but it wasn't another silly old fun movie! It had its more serious tone and was definitely more sophisticated than I expected. My favorite part of the movie was the young Jack Lemmon playing C.C. Baxter, asking Shirley MacLaine's character if she liked his hat. She was distracted and he replied, "Did I make a boo boo?" The rest of the movie you kind of felt bad for Baxter and wanted him to get some dignity which he did at the end. Definitely deserved its Academy Award for Best Picture! Big Thumbs Up!
Well, ladies and gents we are all caught up! This Sunday is Modern Times with Charlie Chaplin. So we will see how that goes... Oh side not my husband and I watched Away We Go this weekend. Not on the list obviously , but really fun and good. If you like Little Miss Sunshine you would like that movie... anywho be back next week! :)
